Paradise Honors Survives Peoria Led by Scaren Usate

Paradise Honors and Peoria are both rebuilding teams looking to make the playoff's under new head coaches for both programs. Paradise Honors lead by Cain Atkinson and Peoria led by Christopher Gossett put on a show in a 4A conference matchup.


1st Quarter - Scaren's hot start

The game started with a big time 10-2 run by Paradise honors. The energy from Scaren Usate was infectious and the team rallied behind him. Scaren had 8 of his squads first quarter points. Peoria woke up in the middle of the first and got points from everyone they made a run right back at paradise honors led by Christopher Morgan with 5 points and guard Mare Petty with 4 assist and was creating open shots for his teammates.

2nd Quarter - Paradise spreads the wealth

Paradise would take off on Peoria for a second time having 6 different players scoring in the quarter. Paradise would move the ball really well and ran the offense effective and efficiently. Guard Keenan Martin ran the show and led paradise to a 19 point quarter. Peoria started off slow and then brought in guard Ronnie Lee McCray who gave them a nice spark off the bench pouring in 8 points this quarter. Peoria just did enough to stay in the game.

3rd Quarter - The game slows down

To start the 3rd both teams begin to ramp up their defense and the game become more physical and slowed down. A lot of half court offense was played in this quarter as both teams were trying to create separation from the other. Both teams would trade buckets and Peoria would win the quarter by 2. This was the lowest scoring quarter for both squads.

4th Quarter - The clutch

Peoria came out swinging and brought the energy showing new life led by big James Knowshisgun-dunbar. James was consistent all night putting up 4 points each quarter. Sebastian Marrufo of Paradise would answer back and keep the lead for his team with free throws and a tough layup. Half way through the quarter Christopher Morgan of Peoria comes alive again by hitting two big shots to give Peoria their first lead of the game. Peoria has the momentum going and now up 3 but then Christopher Morgan hits a huge 3 to put a end to Peoria's 7-0 run and tie the game back up. As the quarter goes on chaos begins. Both teams start to turn the ball over and miss open shots. with 1 minute left Peoria has the ball up 1 and Paradise Honors forces a shot clock violation. Paradise guard Keenan Martin then hits 2 free throws and puts his squad up 1. Peoria bring the ball up and throws a bad pass and Scaren Usate gets a steal leading to a fast break to make the go ahead bucket. Peoria Misses their last second attempt from 3 and Paradise walks away with a hard fought win.
