Ironwood Ridge vs Mica Mountain

It’s Senior Night for the #13 Ironwood Ridge Nighthawks as the host the #25 Mica Mountain Thunderbolts.

First Quarter

Ironwood Ridge controls the tip.Three point attempt misses rerbounded by Mica Mountain. Mica misses on a three point attempt and the Nighthawks regain possession, Henry Matus makes a layup for the first points of the game. Jack Andrews scores it for Mica and it is 2-2. Henry Matus finds Dalton Yarmolovich at the top for a three and he knocks it down. The Nighthawks get the ball back after another missed three pointer and Dalton Yarmolovich again for the score 7-2 Nighthawks. The Thunderbolts with possession running motion and Evan Lind finds Jadon Smith for a three. Lucas Anderson misses the layup and Jadon Smith scores a layup on the possession for Mica Mountain tying the game 7-7. Jadon Smith misses the three and Derek Overton recovers the rebound and the Nighthawks get called for a travel. Brandon Nickles checks into the game and grabs a rebound, passes it off to Jordan Porter who scores the layup. Thunderbolts on a 7-0 run to take a 9-7 lead. Make that a 9-0 run as Jordan Porter scores another layup. 11-7 Thunderbolts lead. Lucas Anderson stops the bleeding with a layup then gets a steal and finds Henry Matus who misses the layup. Nighthawks recover the rebound on a miss by Mica. Sophomore Emilio Valle easily gets to the basket to tie the game at 11-11 and the first quarter ends in a tie.

Second Quarter

Mica starts with possession and Evan Lind misses but the ball is rebounded by Jadon Smith and he scores the bucket. Derek Overton is fouled and knocks down both free throws. Jordan Porter responds with a mid range score. Henry Matus answers back and both teams are just trading baskets right now. Ball gets knocked out of bounds and Nighthawks ball. Henry Matus with a mid range and knocks it down. Evan Lind answers with a three on the other side. Henry Matus again with a bucket only to be answered back by Jordan Porter. Senior Landen Briones hits a floater and the Nighthawks get a steal immediately after. Lucas Anderson is called for a traveling violation. Jordan Porter is having himself a game as he scores again capitalizing on the turnover. Bad pass by Mica Mountain and Landen Briones sprints to get the steal and takes it down for the and one bucket securing the three point play with a free throw. Mica hits a two and we are tied at 24. Brandon Nickles checks into the game and again impacts with a deep three. 27-24 Mica leads. Brandon Nickels drives baseline and kicks it out to Jesus Alcoverde who knocks down the three. 30-24 Thunderbolts lead. Lucas Anderson scores a layup stopping Micas 8-0 run. Brandon Nickels with another three for Mica. Nighthawks with a ten second violation. Kobe Thomas drives and is fouled. He hits the first and then knocks down the second. The Nighthawks could dribble for the last shot with the shot clock off, instead they rush a bad shot and Mica capitalizes and gets one more score before the halftime buzzer goes off. The Thunderbolts take a 37-26 lead into the half. 

Third Quarter

Nighthawks start with the ball. Henry Matus misses, gets his rebound and misses again. Ball gets hit out of bounds and it is Thunderbolts ball. Timeout is called by Mica Mountain. Ball is inbounded and Evan Lind misses the three and its rebounded by Dalton Yarmolovich. Yarmolovich misses the floater and Mica recovers. Jordan Porter drives the lane and scores for Mica. Derek Overton responds with a three from the corner. Lucas Anderson knocks in another layup for the Nighthawks. Evan Lind responds with a corner three. Lucas Anderson gets fouled on the made layup and sinks the free throw. 42-34 Mica leads. Evan Lind cuts to the basket and scores off the pass from JAck Andrews to get the lead back to ten. Nighthawks miss and Mica rebounds the ball. Evan Lind with another three from the corner. Lucas Anderson sinks another layup. Evan Lind once again with a three from the corner. Not much if any adjustments seem to have been made by the Nighthaws as everything that was working for the Thunderbolts in the first half continues to work in the second half. Jordan Porter misses and the rebound is grabbed by Derek Overton who is then called for a double dribble. Mica capitalizes with a mid range. Lucas Anderson misses a deep three and it is recovered by Mica. Mica misses and the Nighthawks recover. Dalton Yarmolovich scores. Jack Andrews rebounds Jordan Porters miss and he sinks the floater. Dalton Yarmolovich with another bucket and draws the foul. He misses the free throw and Henry Matus recovers it and hits the mid range jumper. Mica takes a 54-45 lead into the fourth quarter. Evan Lind scores 11 points and makes 3 threes in the third quarter for the Thunderbolts.

Fourth Quarter

Dalton Yarmolovich hits a layup to start the fourth. Mica with possession, Jordan Porter hits the tough shot. Derek Overton scores after Landen Briones comes up with a steal. Derek Overton again on the following possession knocks down a three. Jadon Smith hits a three from the corner and Mica Mountain calls a timeout with a 59-52 lead. The Nighthawks called with an offensive foul. Jordan Porter with the ball, he misses the jumper and Derek Overton grabs the rebound and takes it the length of the court for the layup. 59-54 Mica leads. Jordan Porter drives and gets fouled on the shot. He misses the first and knocks down the second. Henry Matus gets fouled on the three point attempt by Evan Lind. He makes two of the three. Brandon Nickles finds Jordan Porter for the three point shot. Lucas Anderson makes the three, his first of the game. Jordan Porter again with a layup and Mica calls a timeout with a 65-59 lead. 3:28left in the game. Derek Overton finds Dalton Yarmolovich for the floater. Mica with the ball Jadon Smith draws the foul and hits one of two. Derek Overton rebounds the miss and gets fouled going up for the layup. He misses the first and makes the second. Jack Andrews hits the shot for the Thunderbolts to get the lead back to six. 2:03 left in the game. The Thunderbolts in the bonus and they hit 1 of 2. Ironwood Ridge calls a timeout with 1:58 left and down by seven. Dalton Yarmolovich misses, Jack Andrews grabs the rebound and is fouled. He heads to the line and hits both. 71-62 with 1:36 left. Lucas Anderson misses a three and Mica recovers the ball. Jordan Porter with the dagger layup and then a steal to just about seal the game. He hits one of two. 74-62 with 1:01 left in the game. Evan Lind knocks down both free throws and the lead extends to 12. Evan Lind rebounds a Nighthawks miss and again hits both free throws. Nighthawks with another miss and Jadon Smith rebounds and is fouled. He knocks down both free throws. Derek Overton drives and is fouled. He hits both free throws. Final score 80-66 Mica Mountain.
