Colts storm back behind a 17-0 run to win it vs Eagles

Friday, November 21st I attended the cross region clash with two Top-25 programs with the 5A Ironwood Eagles traveling at least an hour to take on host team 6A Casteel Colts. 

-1st quarter started w a 5-0 Casteel lead. Sir Myles with a floater and Landon Martineau hit a 3. Matt Crowder scored 3 straight but Ironwood came back with two deep 3’s by Carysn Dean and Jeo James. 9-6 Casteel. James hit another 3 to give Ironwood their first lead at 10-9. Landon Jones then fires away from deep with a 13-11 for Ironwood.  

-2nd quarter Matt Crowder back at it. 13-13 but Dean hit back to back 3’s along with Landon Jones to give them their biggest lead at 22-17 w 5:09 to play. Ricky Denman and-1 gives Ironwood a 25-19 lead w 2:18 to play in the half. Landon Jones 5 straight gives them a 30-24 lead and then Dean hit a 3 at the buzzer to go up 33-24 at halftime.   

-3rd quarter Dean put on a show with 8 quick points out of the gate which gave the Eagles a 41-27 lead. The Colts made a 17-0 run which gave them a 44-41 at the end of the 3rd led by with Myles,. Crowder, Martineau, Lazor and Gruver. 

-4th quarter starts and Josh Dillard gets on the board with two FT’s but the Colts score again giving them a 46-43 w 6:33 left. Jeo James hit a 3 but Colts answer back with a Lazor 3 and a Martineau bucket. 51-46 Colts w 4:40 left. Jeo James hits another 3. 51-49  but Lazor with a fall away from 10-feet. 53-49 Casteel.

Landon Jones hits a 3. 53-53 with 2:30 left. Then Gruver with a mid-range pull-up. 55-52 Colts.

Ben Gruver hits a clutch basket with 35 secs left. 57-52 followed by 2 FTs by Ironwood give Casteel a 57-54 w 23 secs left.

Casteel then actually loses the ball and Ironwood calls timeout and get a shot at the buzzer and missed.

Casteel holds on 57-54.
