Canyon View hiring Democracy Prep’s Cory Duke

There’s a new leader in Waddell.

Canyon View announced on Wednesday evening that Cory Duke from Democracy Prep (NV) will be the fifth head basketball coach in program history.

Duke, comes to Canyon View with an exceptional track record following seven years as the head coach of Democracy Prep.

The new Jaguar coach amassed a 108-55 record during his tenure which included back-to-back state championship victories in 2022 and 2023.

2025-26 saw tough challenges as the school of under 400 students reached the 5A conference semifinals in Nevada’s highest classification this past season.

Duke spoke to NextUpAZ about the hire with an exclusive interview that’ll release tomorrow morning, May 7th.

Canyon View is an intriguing opening with a potential division one guard in Tay Owens as well as wing PJ Nowlin leading the way entering the Summer.

The program has been selected for the weekend of Section 7 and will attract college coaches during the June live period.
